Albion 16-Under Softball Goes 2-3

After losing a pair of contests at David City, Albion’s 16 & under softball team rebounded to defeat Pierce and split a doubleheader with Lakeview.
Albion lost an 8-7 heartbreaker to the David City 16-unders June 10 as the hosts rallied with four runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. David City’s 18-under team built an 8-0 lead and held off a late Albion rally to score a 9-5 victory.

Albion bounced back June 14 with an 8-4 victory over Pierce at Petersburg. Using four singles and a Pierce error, Albion took a 4-0 lead in the 1st with runs by Molt, VanWormer, Maria Glidden and Lee. Pierce edged within a run at 5-4 with four in the 4th, but Albion secured the win with runs by Lee and Mallory Fangman in the 5th and another tally by Lee in the 6th.

Albion won its second straight over Lakeview June 15 at Albion, 7-3. Trailing 3-2, the host 16-unders exploded for five runs in the 4th. Lakeview turned the tables with its own late rally and a 5-4 victory in the nightcap. Molt, VanWormer and Stuhlmiller scored to give the hosts a 3-0 1st inning lead and Albion held a 4-0 advantage before Lakeview notched five in the 7th inning, using six singles in eight batters.
