Prauner Wins Another Feature At BCR

Six for six.
While it wasn’t easy, Norfolk’s Kyle Prauner kept his 2011 feature winning streak at the Boone County Raceway alive Friday, July 1.
Prauner used an early caution that brought B Mod A Feature leader Kevin Betzen of David City back to the pack and fought his way from third place to the front through midrace laps. The 5K driver then survived several late-race cautions himself to run his feature streak to a half dozen.
In one of the most riveting features of the night, Rising City’s Shane Hiatt and Steve Reynolds of Springfield, SD ran in near tandem for the majority of the IMCA Modified A event before mechanical failure in Reynold’s 96R ride with two laps remaining allowed Hiatt to outrace Albion’s Jacob Anson to the checkers.
A similar fate haunted Dale Bittner of Norfolk in the Stock Car feature. Bittner led most of the race until puffs of smoke from the 97B ended his night in the final laps. Fellow Norfolk racer Ron Pettit took advantage to win his second straight A event in the class.
Tad Pospisil of Norfolk used a strong charge in the final third of the Late Model A Feature to overtake early leader Mike Kelley of Albion and post the victory. Albion’s Mark Lueken remains on top of the LM point standings despite an eighth-place feature run, but Pospisil cut his advantage to just five points with Friday’s results.
Neligh’s Jason Wilkinson dueled early with Tiffany Bittner of Norfolk in the Hobby Stock A, then pulled away through the second half of the race to win with ease, boosting his point lead in the class.
Wilkinson also grabbed the top spot in the Stock Car division as previous leader Troy Bergman of Columbus was caught up  in a feature accident and finished 13th. In the only other leader change July 1, Anson pulled into a tie with Jared Hoefelman of Columbus in the Modified class.
