Digital projection equipment improves local movie experience

Tim Casper, summer manager at Gateway Theatre, with new digital projection equipment.Cars 2″ played at the Gateway Theatre last week in 3-D, a new experience for moviegoers in Albion. The theatre replaced their old projection system in early July with a new, 3-D capable digital projector. “Cars 2″ was the first movie to be played in 3-D on the new projector.

The theatre had hoped for a sellout crowd of 248 people for the Cars 2 in 3-D opening event. The Sunday matinee came very close with 220 people lining up to watch the movie in 3-D during the third week of digital projections for Gateway Theatre.

“There have been no problems with the new system so far,” noted Gateway Theatre summer manager, Tim Casper. “We don’t anticipate any problems with it in many years to come.”
