Final Push On At Boone County Raceway

july-29-bcr-018.jpgWith only one night of regular racing and the annual Championship Night remaining in the 2011 Boone County Raceway season, drivers are fighting for position and preparing for a final push to point championships in seven classes.
All point leaders were able to keep their grip on the top spots this past Friday, although only one claimed victory in an ‘A’ Feature event at the Albion fairgrounds oval.
The Hornet class returned for their third night of an abbreviated BCR season schedule and leader Justice Colson increased his advantage with a feature win.
Kyle Prauner of Norfolk still holds an 11-point lead in B Mods despite finishing third in the ‘A’ Feature August 5 – the first time in 2011 he had not finished first or second in a BCR feature. Dusty Poessnecker of Atkinson remains six points in front of Blair’s Brady Fernau after running third in Friday’s Hobby Stock ‘A’ event. Stock Car leader Troy Bergman of Columbus finished ninth in Friday’s ‘A’ Feature, but remains five points ahead of Albion’s Dave Langan.
In the two closest point battles at the BCR, Norfolk’s Tad Pospisil kept a three-point lead over Mark Lueken of Albion with a fourth-place run in the Late Model feature and Jared Hoefelman of Columbus increased his slim edge in the Modified class to two points with a third-place feature finish.
Drivers will continue to jockey for point positions Friday, August 12, in the final BCR regular racing card of 2011 (8 p.m.).
