Smaller valuation increase for Boone County this year

Boone County’s total property valuation will increase again this year, but not as much as the three previous years.

The county’s total property valuation for 2011-12 increased by seven percent or $72.8 million to a total of $1,110,651,547.

Boone County Assessor Joyce Sock announced the new valuation totals last Thursday, Aug. 18.

Once again, most of the valuation increase was attributable to growth in agricultural land values. Irrigated and dry cropland increased 10 percent in value this year, while there was very little change in grassland values.
