Boone Central Softball Team Adds Pair Of Wins

The Boone Central softball team went on the road and scored victories over David City and North Bend Central last week, improving its 2011 record to 5-2.
The Cardinals hoped to keep that momentum going Saturday in the Boone Central Tournament, but a steady rain forced games to be called after just a handful of innings were played.

Boone Central used a dramatic rally Tuesday to defeat host David City 11-7, scoring five runs in the eighth inning after tieing the score in the seventh.
“What a nail biter!” exclaimed Coach Cassie Olson. “The girls stayed strong and strung hits together at the critical moments.
“Every game they get more comfortable and sure of themselves.”

Boone Central followed that exciting victory with a 6-3 win at North Bend Thursday.
“An overall solid performance, defensively and offensively,” Olson said. “I was proud of the way the girls handled the ‘heat’ and attempts to rattle them.”

The Boone Central JV got its season off to a strong start with wins at David City and North Bend.
The Cardinals fought to a 7-6 victory at David City, with Becca Reicks scoring the winning run in the sixth and final inning
