Cardinals Host Cross Country Invitational

Jaime Kennedy (l) and Cassidy PribnowThe Cardinal cross country program hosted an extremely tough field of teams and runners for the season-opening Boone Central Invitational Friday at the Albion Country Club.
While the Cards were unable to crack the top spots in team competition – traditional powers York and Scotus split the girls and boys titles – Coach Tom Dickey was pleased with fourth (girls) and fifth (boys) place efforts.
“I was very pleased with our first meet effort. Our goals were simple – first, to run an even, steady race without doing anything crazy early – and second, to compete hard during the second half of the race,” Dickey commented. “I think we did that with nearly everyone.
“I was very impressed with our top runners. Cassidy and Jaime worked well together and ran hard. Calvin ran an evenly-paced race, so was able to make up lots of ground on kids leading him.”

Senior Jaime Kennedy led Boone Central’s girls, placing sixth individually in 17:28. Junior Cassidy Pribnow was close behind in eighth with a time of 17:30. Junior Calvin Koziol had a strong top 10 performance in the boys race, placing seventh in 16:53. Beierman won the junior high girls competition with a 9:30 clocking – #3 on the all-time charts.
