School, city plan tax reductions

Good news awaits taxpayers in the City of Albion and the Boone Central School District this year.

Both entities plan to reduce their property tax requests for the 2011-12 budget year.

Boone Central Schools is proposing a reduction of $52,021 in its tax request and will reduce the tax levy to slightly more than 95 cents per $100 of valuation.

The City of Albion plans to use cash reserves in its 2011-12 budget, reducing the tax request by $54,816 and also reducing the tax levy by 8.73 percent.
