Cardinal Golfers Add Two More Titles

Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ …
That old TV theme song would fit the Boone Central girls golf team, which added two more tournament titles last week, making the Cardinals three-for-three in 2011.

After winning the West Holt Invite with a 403 team total two weeks ago, the Cardinals posted a 388 on the challenging Quail Run layout in Columbus to win last Thursday’s Lakeview Invite, then followed with a 353 winning score Saturday in the Pierce Invitational.
Once again, Boone Central was led by the sterling efforts of its top two players in the Lakeview and Pierce events.
Senior Britany Seda ran away with tournament medalist honors in the Lakeview meet by firing an impressive 83, five strokes in front of Abbie Hunke of West Point/Beemer. Card junior Amy Ahlers was right behind Hunke, shooting 89 to place third.

Boone Central was also dominant at Pierce, defeating runner-up Norfolk Catholic by 37 (353-390). Seda and Ahlers each shot 77, placing 2-3 behind Hunke, who carded a 72 over 18 holes. Ahlers and Seda started the day with sizzling round of 35 and 36, respectively, before backsliding a bit on their closing nines with scores of 42 and 41.
Senior Breann Thorberg had her best day of the young season, rebounding from a 54 on the front nine to shoot a sharp 43 on her second round and finish at 97. Kyncl was again steady, firing rounds of 50-52 to round out the team score with a 102 total.
