BC Golfers Win 5th 2011 Tourney Title

The Boone Central girls golf team has competed in five tournaments in 2011.
The Cardinals have brought home five championship trophies.
You can’t do better than that.
Boone Central, two-time defending Class C state champion, kept its unblemished season record (including dual and triangular wins) intact by winning the Metteer Invite at Wayne Sept. 22.
The Cardinals posted a 375 team total for 18 holes, 17 strokes in front of the Norfolk High JV (392). Norfolk Catholic placed third (400) and host Wayne finished fourth (405).
Card junior Amy Ahlers notched her first 2011 individual gold medal in the Wayne tourney, continuing a superlative season that has included four previous top-three finishes (two runner-ups). Speaking of superlative, senior teammate Britany Seda, who had won three previous gold medals and finished second once, placed third in the Wayne meet.
Ahlers’ 84 and Seda’s 89 gave the Cards a big boost to the team title, as Norfolk’s top two golfers posted scores of 92 and 98. Boone Central also boasted a third medalist, with senior Breann Thorberg placing 13th with a 98.
Freshman Melissa Kyncl round out the Cards’ team score with a 104. Sophomore Faith Leetch carded a 108 in the competition.
