Bob Wilson prefers to remain in the background, helping out with the projects of local veterans’ organizations.
On Veterans Day, the longtime Albion resident was asked to step forward and be recognized with the local “Living Veteran” award.
“I was very surprised and proud to be honored,” said Wilson, a veteran of the Korean War. “There are so many great volunteers who serve in our veterans’ groups.”
He received the award from Dale Bowman, representing Manderson Lehr American Legion Post 163 and VFW Post 736, during the annual Veterans Day program at the Boone Central High School Gym. After that program, a flag-raising ceremony was held in his honor at Albion’s downtown mini-park.
