Boone Central boys top Crofton

Momentum.
Coaches always like to finish their regular-season schedules strong and ride a crest of success into post-season play.
Boone Central will be able to do just that after breaking a brief two-game losing skid with a 47-36 victory over scrappy Crofton Friday – the Cardinals’ fifth victory in their last seven games.
In fact, the decision over the host Warriors culminated a stretch of seven victories in 10 games for BC, which finished the regular season 11-10.
“This is always a great way to cap the regular season,” acknowledged Cardinal Coach Dan Zoucha. “As we begin sub-district play, we will need the energy we have shown in order to get the result we want.”
Friday’s win did not come easily against a tough Crofton squad playing its home finale. The Cardinals earned the ‘W’ by methodically outscoring the hosts in every quarter.
“Crofton, while not having a lot of size, played with a lot of emotion and was a very scrappy team,” Zoucha commented. “They really hustled after loose balls and long rebounds. When you play a team like that, you have to take care of the little things.
“We steadily built a lead throughout the game, but could never quite put the game away until late.”
