Former Cards Wrap Up College Court Action

Several former Boone Central basketball athletes concluded their 2011-12 collegiate seasons in tournament play during March.
Bobbi Beckwith, a 5-foot-9 freshman guard at Iowa Western Community College, competed with the Reivers in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XVI tournament at Jefferson City, MO.
Iowa Western, the #3 regional seed, opened with a 74-61 victory over Mineral Area as Beckwith contributed four points. The former Cardinal standout scored seven points in a 64-52 Western win over #2 seed Crowder College, advancing the Reivers to the regional championship game.
Iowa Western saw its season end at 23-12 with a 56-43 title game loss to top-seeded Jefferson. Beckwith tallied three points in the finale.
Beckwith, who played in 32 Reiver games, finished her freshman season as Iowa Western’s assist leader, averaging 3.18 per game. She also had averages of 6.18 points, 3.25 rebounds and 1.65 steals per contest.

Ryan Shotkoski, a 6-foot-3 guard from Albion, concluded his junior season at Maryville University in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
Maryville, an NCAA Div. II participant, closed the 2011-12 campaign 13-14 with a 68-51 loss to Southern Indiana in 1st round conference tourney play at Evansville, IN.  Shotkoski played in all 27 Maryville games, starting 12. He averaged 4.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and one steal per game.

Another junior, 5-10 guard Brittany Luettel, competed for the Doane College Tigers, who completed the 2011-12 season with a 14-12 overall record.
Doane closed the regular season with a 58-55 victory over Dordt before losing a 78-44 decision to Northwestern College in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament at Orange City, IA. Luettel, who started 19 of 26 games for the Tigers, finished the season with averages of 5.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and one steal per game.
