Boone Central FFA members earn state awards

Aaron Hamling, left, and Lacy Jo Peterson with State FFA degrees.During last week’s Nebraska FFA Convention, Boone Central FFA members earned several individual and team awards in Career Development Events (CDEs), and two members earned their State FFA degrees.

A total of 25 members competed in contests, attended workshops, and listened in on sessions during the three-day convention in Lincoln.

Earning State FFA degrees were seniors Aaron Hamling and Lacey Jo Peterson of Boone Central.

Boone Central’s Livestock Management team placed fourth overall with a purple ribbon at state. The team placed third in equine and fifth place in dairy. Team members are Spencer Noble, Jacob Olson, Lacey Jo Peterson, Bailey Wagner, Eleanor Wagner and Ethan Wilke

The Boone Central Farm Management team placed fifth overall with a purple award, and Justin Lee earned 10th place individually. Other team members were Jessica Tisthammer (purple), Tanner Prothman (blue) and Rob Rozeboom (white).

Three Boone Central students earned State Proficiency Awards during the convention.

Aaron Hamling received second for his proficiency in the area of Agricultural Mechanics/Repair and Maintenance.

In the area of Poultry Production, Spencer Noble received second place.

Jacob Olson was also second for Specialty Animal Production.
