Boone Central Golfers Tee Off 2012 Season At Ord

Boone Central opened the 2012 boys high school golf season at Ord, first in a dual vs. the Chants April 3, followed by the annual Ord Invitational tournament April 5.
Boone Central and Ord proved to be quite evenly matched in varsity action Tuesday, April 3, with the host Chants edging BC 181-182 in their season-opening dual.
Cardinal sophomore Jackson Meyer fired the lowest round of the day (39), but Ord’s consistency through the line-up proved to be the difference in the nine-hole competition.
The hosts had four players post scores in the 40s – Brant Bechtold (42), Adam Hruza (46), Brett Bundy (46) and Clayton Keown (47) – for their varsity team total of 181.
Kade Leetch shot 45 and Sean Soll 46 in support of Meyer, but Boone Central’s final score for it’s 182 total was a 52 (Brett Temme, Hunter Henry).
Ord also won the JV competition, 201-224. Chris Ketteler led the Cardinal JV with a 50. Other JV scores were Alex Johnson (51), Bryce Paulson (59), Colton Mazour (64) and Zach Wurdeman (67).
Boone Central returned to the Ord Golf Course Thursday, finishing 11th in the 14-team Ord Invitational with a 371 score.
Aurora won the tournament with a 298 team total, well in front of runner-up O’Neill (317) and Kearney Catholic (321).
Henry put together rounds of 43/43 to lead Boone Central players with an 18-hole score of 86. Other Cardinals counting toward the team total were Leetch (42/45-87), Soll (47/49-96) and Meyer (50/52-102). Temme carded 52/57-109.
