A newly announced preferred route could bring the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline across eastern Antelope, Boone and Nance counties.
The proposed corridor was announced last Wednesday, April 18, by TransCanada Inc. and reflects the company’s agreement to avoid the Nebraska Sandhills.
TransCanada officials have stated the new route will add about 100 miles of pipeline as compared to the original plan.
Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will review this preferred corridor as well as other alternative corridors that are part of a 51-page document prepared by Energy Services Inc. and submitted by TransCanada to NDEQ.
Details in the April 25 Albion News and Petersburg Press Print and Electronic Editions.
