Albion voters will decide July 10, 2012 whether to approve a $2.95 million bond issue for construction of a new municipal swimming pool.
The city council approved a resolution calling for the bond vote after a complete presentation by the Albion Swimming Pool Committee and several split votes during a special meeting last Wednesday night, April 25.
Total cost of the pool, as designed, would be about $3.6 million. However, the cost to taxpayers would be reduced through the use of $266,000 already donated by Mitzi Fox, $65,000 in reserve funds from the city, and a capital campaign to raise an additional $400,000.
The committee proposed a pool location in the south end of Fuller Park, to remain accessible to area children.
