Boone Central’s varsity and junior varsity boys golf teams were in action in separate meets this past Thursday, April 26.
The Cardinal varsity traveled to Columbus for the Lakeview Invitational, held on the 18-hole layout at the Elks Country Club.
Boone Central had a tough day against a difficult field of teams, finishing 13th with a 437 team total.
Elkhorn South won the tournament with a score of 330, well in front of runner-up Norfolk High JV (349). Columbus rivals Scotus (365) and Lakeview (368) were third and fourth, respectively.
Kade Leetch led the Cards with a round of 47/54 – 101. Rounding out the team score were Alex Johnson (56/54 – 110), Chris Ketteler (58/52 – 110) and Brett Temme (54/62 – 116). Jackson Meyer shot 60/65 – 125.
Individual tourney medalist was Schuyler’s Clint Kracl with a one-over par 36/37 – 73. Drew Farlee (38/37 – 75) of Norfolk Catholic was runner-up.
The Boone Central junior varsity competed in the St. Francis Invite at Humphrey’s Steepleview Golf Course.
Boone Central finished 8th in the 12-team event with a 404 team score. St. Francis (347) won the tournament, followed by Lutheran High NE (368), Twin River (369), Leigh (370), Humphrey (371) and Howells (372).
Sean Soll led the Card JV with a 99 on nine-hole rounds of 51/48. Completing the team total were Hunter Henry (49/51 – 100), Bryce Paulson (53/48 – 101) and Luke Johnson (53/51 – 104). Zach Wurdeman shot 63/64 – 127.
Lutheran High’s Payton Baker was tourney medalist with a 74. Michael Brockhaus (78) of St. Francis was runner-up.
The Boone Central varsity and JV golf teams hosted triangular competition at the Albion Country Club Monday.
In varsity play, Elgin/Pope John carded the low team score of 172, followed by Boone Central (187) and Spalding/Spalding Academy (225).
Elgin/Pope John also had the low JV score of 196, with the Card JV finishing with a 202 total.
Andrew Heithoff of Elgin/Pope John fired the low nine-hole round of the day with a four-over-par 40. Boone Central’s Chris Ketteler carded a 42 and Elgin/Pope John’s Evan Parks and Nick Heithoff each shot 43.
Rounding out Boone Central’s varsity team total were Jackson Meyer (46), Kade Leetch (47) and Alex Johnson (52).
Preston Schrage of E/PJ carded the low JV score of 44. Boone Central’s Hunter Henry and Bryce Paulson each shot 46.
