After a one-week delay, another summer of local stock car action began Friday, May 4, with the season-opening card at the Boone County Raceway in Albion.
Competition was held in six classes, with many of the track’s top drivers picking right up where they left off in 2011.
Jason Wilkinson of Neligh, 2010 BCR champion, got 2012 off to a successful start by winning the IMCA Hobby Stock A Feature. Tad Pospisil of Norfolk and Stanton’s Nelson Vollbrecht, 2011 Limited Late Model and IMCA Sport Mod runners-up, respectively, also won the initial A Features of the season in those classes.
Another 2010 champ, Albion’s Tyler Iverson, was the IMCA Modified A Feature winner and TeJay Miekle of Norfolk, a winner of several features late last summer as a new BCR competitor, topped the Street Stock A Feature field. Cameron Meyer of Pierce won the opening IMCA Sport Compact A Feature.
