Boone Central girls win first golf event

Off and swinging.
On a comfortable afternoon at the Albion Country Club, the Boone Central girls golf team began its 2012 season in successful fashion, defeating Fullerton in dual play.
Led by accomplished senior Amy Ahlers, the Cardinals carded a 209 team score to finish 26 strokes ahead of Fullerton’s varsity (235). The Fullerton JV team finished at 266.
The smooth-swinging Ahlers picked up right from where her junior season ended, firing an impressive nine-hole round of 37 (three-over women’s par on the ACC layout).
Sophomore Melissa Kyncl shot 51 for Boone Central, with freshman Kyley Sorell (60) and junior Jessica Tisthammer (61) rounding out the Cardinal team score. Freshman Lily Johnson had a round of 65.
