Card volleyers making progress at 6-5

During a hectic week of court action, the Boone Central/Newman Grove volleyball program matched its win total of the past two seasons – combined.
The Cardinals nipped Crofton in a five-set thriller in Albion Tuesday, then added one victory in both the Madison Triangular Thursday and Central City Invite Saturday to improve to 6-5 in 2012.
“We are continuing to serve well, averaging about 92 percent from the line in the last five contests,” commented Coach Susan Roberts. “We are also doing a consistent job on serve receive, keeping the ball in system and giving our offense a chance to score.”
Boone Central/Newman Grove began its week with the exciting 20-25, 25-21, 25-12, 15-25, 15-13 victory over Crofton.
BC/NG competed in the Madison Triangular Thursday, opening with a 27-25, 25-18 victory over the host Lady Dragons.
A tough Norfolk Catholic squad topped the Cardinals in their other match by scores of 25-22, 25-18.
Boone Central/Newman Grove posted a 1-2 record in the Central City Invite Saturday, opening with a 25-22, 23-25, 13-25 loss to the host team. BC/NG bounced back to defeat Raymond Central 24-26, 25-16, 25-18 and the Cards concluded the tourney with a 12-25, 17-25 loss to Norfolk Catholic.
