The Boone Central softball team concluded the 2012 season with home contests against traditional diamond rivals Twin River and St. Paul this past week.
Boone Central will open postseason action Thursday in the C-4 District Tournament at Wisner River Park. The Lady Cardinals, seeded #4 with an 11-13 record, will face #5 seed Wisner-Pilger (14-14) at 11 a.m. The winner will play #1 seed Wayne (21-4) at 1 p.m., with the loser playing at 5 p.m. in the double-elimination format.
Boone Central hosted Twin River for a doubleheader Tuesday, Sept. 25.
In the opener, the Lady Cardinal JV faced Twin River’s varsity, struggling in a 20-1 loss in three innings. The Titans broke open a 3-0 game with a 17-run second inning.
The nightcap was much more competitive, but Twin River was able to post a 9-5 victory by scoring runs in each of the first six innings.
Boone Central bounced back Thursday to tame the St. Paul Wildcats 11-7 in its 2012 home finale.
The visitors jumped out to an early advantage before BC used a six-run outburst in the third inning to fuel its comeback triumph.
