Inconsistent BC/NG volleyers drop two

Struggling to find consistency, the Boone Central/Newman Grove volleyball team came up shy of victory in home matches this past week and dropped to 7-8 on the season.
The Lady Cardinals hosted a tough Ord opponent Tuesday in Albion and dropped a 23-25, 21-25, 18-25 decision despite showing a strong blocking game and occasional runs of offensive success.
“We played a competitive match against a C2 Top 10 team,” BC/NG Coach Susan Roberts noted. “Ord ran a fast offense and put up some solid blocks that kept our hitters off-balance.”
Boone Central/Newman Grove fought Mid-State Conference foe Battle Creek to the wire Thursday at Newman Grove, but fell 23-25, 25-18, 13-25, 25-17, 8-15 to the Bravettes.
“Lack of consistency was the problem. We just played so up-and-down,” said Roberts. “At times we executed really well and kept Battle Creek off-balance. At other times, we just couldn’t get our offense going and made numerous errors.”
