In January, Loup Power District retail customers will see increases in their electric bill, based on a retail rate increase approved by the Loup Board of Directors at their Dec. 20 meeting.
The overall retail rate increase is expected to be 5.34 percent for all district retail customers, although different customer classes and usage levels will see different levels of increase. The increase represents increases in the cost of wholesale power from the Nebraska Public Power District, as well as other increased operational costs.
Even with the increase, Loup Power rates were well below the state and national averages.
