Boone Central 4th in state bowling

The Boone Central Cardinals concluded a fine season by placing fourth in the 2012-13 Nebraska High School Bowling Federation State Tournament Feb. 9 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.
Boone Central competed in the eight-team Class C boys field with Adams Central, Wisner-Pilger, Ogallala, North Bend Central, Sidney, Wayne and Burwell/Ord.

The tournament began with all teams bowling four games in a qualifying round.
Boone Central opened with a 628, led by Nathan Hemmer’s 174. Hemmer was again the Cardinals’ high bowler as Boone Central posted a 571 in its second game. The Cardinals recorded a 487 in game three with Justin Rasmussen high bowler (161). Lane Cornwell topped BC bowlers in the fourth game with a 175, as the Cards added a 538 score.
Standing seventh following the qualifying round with a 2,224 pin total, Boone Central faced #2 Wisner-Pilger in a ‘best 3-of-5 baker series.’ BC knocked off the Gators 3-1 by scores of 160-152, 181-136, 151-178, 170-164.
Advancing to the tournament semi-final round, Boone Central struggled and dropped a 3-0 baker series to Burwell/Ord (111-142, 129-164, 118-169).
Individually, Nathan Hemmer finished 15th in Class C with a 445 total. Kaleb Kelley was 18th with a total of 422 and Justin Rasmussen 19th with a 410 score.
