Agreements for modification of two county roads in northern Boone County, to accommodate construction of the Prairie Breeze Wind Farm, were approved by County Commissioners Tuesday morning, Feb. 19.
Information on the wind farm was presented by Mick Baird, Invenergy vice president, and James Williams, business development manager.
The 200 megawatt wind farm has received approval from the Nebraska Power Review Board and has completed a purchased power purchase agreement with Omaha Public Power District. Construction of the 118-tower project is expected to start in May, with completion by the end of the year. About 18 of the wind towers will be located in northern Boone County, with the remainder in Antelope County.
