Bryan Molt, a native of Cedar Rapids, will be operating the stock car race track at the Boone County Fairgrounds for the 2013 season.
The track, to be known as Albion Speedway, will open its Friday night race schedule on May 3.
“I’ve always been a race fan, and I’ve driven a race car since 2004,” said Bryan. “This is my home track, and I want to see racing continue at Albion.”
Bryan is a former hobby stock champion at Boone County Raceway. He won titles there in 2007 and 2008. He now races in the IMCA Late Model class at various area tracks.
After 16 years of operating the track as Boone County Raceway, the Krohn family of Albion decided to retire from those duties. Molt contracted recently with the Boone County Agricultural Society to operate the track in 2013.
