Prairie Breeze construction underway

Communities in Antelope and Boone counties have noted increased activity with the start of construction at the new Prairie Breeze Wind Energy Center.
The new wind farm, mostly located in Antelope County south and east of Elgin, will be the largest yet seen in the area with 118 wind turbines and a total capacity of 200 megawatts, which would power about 60,000 homes.
Blattner Energy of Minnesota is general contractor for the project. Construction is expected to be completed by early 2014, when power production will begin.
