Animal cruelty case bound for District Court

A felony charge of animal cruelty and neglect was bound over to District Court after preliminary hearing in Boone County Court last Thursday, June 20.
The charge against James P. Majerus, rural Petersburg, was originally filed in August of 2012, and court proceedings have been continued several times.
In the preliminary hearing, only two witnesses were called. One testified that cruelty and neglect had occurred, while the other said he did not consider Majerus’ actions to be cruelty or neglect.
The case is scheduled for a first appearance in Boone County District Court at 9:30 a.m. in Boone County District Court.
