Boone County Commissioners on Monday put some “teeth” into the requirement that rural property owners must mow weeds and grass on county roadsides and ditches abutting their land.
If a landowner fails to mow abutting roads and ditches within 10 days of receiving notice, the county will complete the mowing at a cost of $450 per mile to the landowner.
The mowing rate is the same as the rate in neighboring Nance County. It was set in a resolution passed by commissioners on Monday, June 24. It becomes effective July 1, 2013.
