The Boone Central and Columbus Scotus girls golf teams have become very familiar with each other in 2013.
Meeting for the fourth time this season – just three days after BC edged the Shamrocks by one stroke to win the Boone Central Invite – the Cardinals placed runner-up to Scotus at the Fullerton Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Boone Central posted a 389 team score on the Pawnee Hills Golf Course nine-hole layout, six strokes behind the Shamrocks’ winning total of 383.
A Cardinal did bring home the individual gold medal. Junior Melissa Kyncl was the day’s top player with an 85 – three strokes ahead of Heartland’s Paige Mestl.
Boone Central did not have as much success on a hot, windy day at Wayne Saturday. The Cardinals finished eighth in the Wayne Meteer Invite with a 444 score.
Scotus won the tournament with a 402, five strokes in front of runner-up O’Neill.
Kyncl again led the Cardinals, placing fifth with an 18-hole score of 94.
