‘Compassionate Earth Walk’ stops overnight at Petersburg

About 10 participants in The Compassionate Earth Walk spent the night in the Petersburg Village Park Thursday night, Sept. 26.
They are following the route of the Keystone XL Pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta, to Steele City, NE. Pictured with the group’s big blue bus are Jon Biemer of Portland, OR, Shado Spring of Northfield, MN, and Kathy Riley of Florissant, CO.
The walkers said they are concerned not only about the pipeline, but the impact of fossil fuels and toxic chemicals on the overall well-being of all people and the earth. Their journey started in Canada last July.
