Champions – times two!
Melissa Kyncl was the gold medalist at the Mid-State Conference Girls Golf Tournament October 1 at Crofton’s Lakeview Golf Course, leading the Boone Central Cardinals to the 2013 conference championship.
Kyncl fired an 18-hole score of 83 and won the individual title by a whopping 11 strokes. The Cardinals were also dominant as a team, with three additional medalists and a 388 total that was 31 strokes ahead of runner-up O’Neill.
Jessica Tisthammer placed seventh in the tournament with a steady 100, Kyley Sorell was eighth at 102 and Faith Leetch ninth with a 103. The Cardinals held just a three-stroke lead over O’Neill through nine holes (203-206), but ran away with a closing round of 185 as Sorell improved by 10 strokes and Leetch by seven.
