Boone County Sheriff Dave Spiegel passed away at home Saturday, Jan. 4, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He had served as sheriff for the past seven years.
In honor of Sheriff Spiegel, the Boone County Commissioners decided Monday to close the courthouse all day Wednesday, Jan. 8, for his funeral.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, followed by interment in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
