Both commissioner seats to be contested

Contested races are in place for both Boone County Commissioner seats that will be up for election in 2014.
Two Republicans, Hilary Maricle of rural Albion and Monty Olson of St. Edward, will vie for the District 1 seat that includes the southern one-third of the county and the communities of Cedar Rapids and St. Edward. Both candidates filed last week for the office.
Unless there is another filing, the District 1 race would be decided in the May 13 primary election.
Democratic incumbent Ken Luettel will be challenged by Republican Clyde Stuhr in District 1, which includes the communities of Petersburg, Raeville, Loretto, Primrose and the northern portion of Albion.
