Bill Parks, a former Petersburg resident, has a greater respect for bricklayers since he completed his scale replica of the St. Boniface Church in Elgin.
He hand cut each wood brick, all 10,000 of them, used in the scale model and carefully glued them together, then installed 1/4’’ board inside for the walls of the church.
“That was the most tedious part of the project,’’ Parks said. Each brick had to be true to keep the walls straight. He threw away ‘a lot’ of bricks that didn’t meet the criteria, he said.
