Former Cardinals storm state tourneys in coaching positions

They’ve come. They’ve seen. And, so far in 2014, they’ve conquered.
For the second straight year, four former Albion basketball players have coached their teams to berths in the Nebraska Girls and Boys State Basketball Tournaments in early March.
Last week, in the girls’ state tourney, former Cards Jon Perone and Andy Imus directed Omaha Benson and Friend, respectively, to the schools’ first girls’ state championships.
This week, Boone Central/Newman Grove’s Dan Zoucha and Joe Imus of Spalding/Spalding Academy will bring teams back to Lincoln, also in search of initial state titles for their programs.
There may be no one more proud of these accomplishments than former Albion-Boone Central Coach Chuck Perone, who coached all four as Cardinals, especially with the accomplishment of son Jon.
