Zoning board considers setback distances

Boone County Planning Commission discussed setback requirements for livestock confinements and tree lines along roadways during their monthly meeting Monday night, March 24.
Jerry Niewohner was present to discuss possible construction of a 2,500 head swine finishing unit in an area west of Loretto.
Planning board members reviewed setback rules established in 2008 for the sandy soils area in northwest Boone County. These rules require no “overlap” of setback distances for confined livestock feeding operations (CFOs) within the sandy soils district.
