Boone County Republicans elected Hilary Maricle of rural Albion as District 1 County Commissioner in the May 13 primary election.
The county’s Democrats elected James W. Eley Jr. to a four-year term as County Attorney.
Those were the only contested countywide races on the primary ballot.
In the five-way Republican race for the District 1 seat, Maricle received 141 votes or 37.9 percent, while Max L. Olson of St. Edward ran second with 97 votes. Other candidates for the seat, and their vote totals, were Brian Wright of rural Albion (58), Marvin K. Haas of St. Edward (49) and Monty Olson of St. Edward (27).
No Democrats filed for the District 1 commissioner seat.
In the race for County Attorney, Ely of St. Edward garnered 227 votes or 73 percent, while incumbent John V. Morgan of Fullerton received 83 votes. No Republicans filed for the County Attorney position.
