Planning board gives nod to one hog confinement

Boone County Planning Commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit for one Class I hog finishing unit proposed north of Albion after a public hearing Monday night.
However, a public hearing on a second proposed Class I unit, at a location southwest of Loretto, was canceled because of an incorrect legal description in letters of notification sent to neighboring property owners.
Jerry and Mark Niewohnerr spoke in favor of the JSMM Farms application for a confinement unit north of Albion on 240th Avenue between 220th and 230th Streets.
