On Monday, May 26, the newly purchased warning siren was installed in Petersburg next to the village maintenance office.
The old siren was 32 years old and is being replaced with an electro-magnetic siren with high Hz tones. Sound output is a radius of one mile with rotating amplification.
The siren was secured on a new 55-foot pole.
Residents may notice a slightly different tone when the siren is tested this Friday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m.
The old siren was taken down and is expected to be placed in another area.
