Students take part in summer enrichment program

Matthew Esch adds ingredients to the pioneer stew under supervision of Lonnie Zrust.Sixth and seventh grade students from three area schools took part in a summer enrichment program at Olson Nature Preserve, May 27-29.
The 21 students from Boone Central Middle School, Newman Grove Middle School and Spalding Academy worked with local educators throughout the program.
Their experiences included scientific studies, learning how to hunt with a red-tailed hawk, preparing food for a pioneer lunch, rope-making, writing poetry and more.
