Albion Juniors bounce back, improve to 5-1

Keaton HenryThe Albion Cornerstone Legion Juniors began a busy week with their first loss of the 2014 American Legion baseball season.
That didn’t derail the local nine for long, however.
Cornerstone bounced back with two road wins, improving to 5-1 after the initial two weeks of the summer season.
The Cornerstone Juniors were scheduled to host St. Paul Tuesday and travel to Seward Thursday in a lighter slate of action this week.

O’Neill 7, Albion 6
Albion Cornerstone rallied to take the lead in the final inning of play Wednesday, June 4, at O’Neill, only to see the host Irish bounce back to steal victory away in the final at-bat of the contest.

Albion 12, Burwell 11
The Cornerstone Juniors returned to the winning side of the ledger the following night in another nailbiter at Burwell.
This time, Albion’s final rally stood up. Cornerstone used three walks and a Burwell error in the top of the fifth to take a 12-11 lead with two runs and Ketteler shut the hosts down in the bottom of the frame to secure the ‘W’.

Albion 12, Sutton 5
After two tense, one-run battles, the Cornerstone Juniors broke open Sunday’s game at Sutton with a late run explosion and claimed a 12-5 decision.
