It was a message most Petersburg area residents didn’t want to hear, but it is the “new normal” for many small communities. The USPS POST Plan is in effect.
By the end of August, window service at the Petersburg Post Office will be reduced to four hours per day, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The window will be open only one hour on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m.
Dawn Bayer of Lincoln, manager of Post Office Operations for this area, made the announcement and visited with about 40 local residents at a July 30 community meeting in the Petersburg Legion Club.
