Property taxpayers will benefit from a lower total levy and a lower tax rate in the 2014-15 Boone County budget.
As proposed, the new county budget will require $403,598 less in total property taxes, a decline of about 10.5 percent.
The county’s total property valuation increased by 24.23 percent this year, and the proposed county levy is much lower at slightly over 18 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.
