Early harvest indicates average to good crop yields

Bryce Naber was harvesting high moisture corn in a field north of Albion last Friday.Fall harvest was beginning in the Boone County area last week.
The activity included silage cutting, some high moisture corn harvest, and a very limited soybean harvest.
Silage cutting was beginning to wind down, with good to average yields reported.
Some short season and high moisture corn was being harvested, with yields ranging from 175 bushels to over 210 bushels per acre and moisture levels ranging from 23 percent to over 30 percent.
Soybeans were drying down to the 13 to 15 percent range in the field, but harvest was difficult due to green stems. Some soybean yields as high as 60 to 70 bushels per acre were reported.
