Colin Petersen has a new heart.
A team of surgeons at Children’s Hospital, Omaha, performed heart transplant surgery Oct. 7 on the 16-month-old son of Jon and Stacy Petersen of Albion.
Reports last weekend indicated Colin was making good progress in recovery.
Friends of the Petersen family have formed “Team Colin” and are planning a fundraiser event this Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Event Center on the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Baskets of Hope are being donated for the silent auction fundraiser, and they are now on display at the Cardinal Inn Motel in Albion.
Events on Saturday will begin with a free will pancake feed starting at 7 a.m., a 5K walk/run event, and kid’s obstacle course and one-mile run. Team Colin T-shirts are also being sold.
