Hirsch retires after nearly 38 years in District Court office

Ellen HirschAfter nearly 38 years of working in the Boone County District Court office, Ellen Hirsch retired Wednesday, Jan. 7, as District Court Clerk.
Courthouse employees presented a retirement plaque to her last week.
Mrs. Hirsch started working as deputy in the District Court office in March of 1977, when LaVonne Sherrill was District Court Clerk and the new courthouse was just a few months old.
She was first elected as District Court Clerk in November of 2002 and has served three four-year terms in the position.
Boone County voters decided in the 2012 election to consolidate the District Court Clerk’s office with the County Clerk’s office, and that consolidation becomes effective this week.
