Two Cardinals selected for 2015 Nebraska Shrine Bowl

Seventy young football players, among the best from across the state of Nebraska, who will be participating in the 57th Annual Nebraska Shrine Bowl were revealed at a press conference last week at the Scottish Rite Temple of Lincoln.
Two seniors from Boone Central/Newman Grove’s 2014 Class C1 state championship team – Michael Lipker and Wyatt Mazour – will compete for the North squad in this year’s contest.

Coaches for the North and South teams were also in attendance at the event. The annual Shrine Bowl showcases the talents of many of the top high school seniors throughout the state. The 2015 game will be held Saturday, June 6, at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field in Kearney (2 p.m.).
Shrine Bowl festivities will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. The parade route runs along Central Avenue, starting at East Railroad Street. All former Shrine Bowl participants are invited to walk in the parade alongside the Shrine Bowl float. Shrine Bowl alumni are encouraged to wear their old jerseys while participating in this event.
Proceeds from the Shrine Bowl ticket and merchandise sales benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children. With 22 locations nationwide, Shriners Hospitals are on the cutting-edge of medical care.
