Boone Central/Newman Grove claimed its first hardware of the 2015 boys golf season April 23, winning the Tom Watson Division of the Scotus Invitational at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.
The Cardinals shot a team score of 376 to finish two strokes ahead of Shelby-Rising City in the Watson portion of the event.
Grand Island Central Catholic (328) ran away with the team title in the Jack Nicklaus Division of the tournament.
Parker Wallin (90) led BC/NG with a 3rd place finish and Joel Meyer (91) finished 5th. Nathan Gottier (96) and Conner Johnson (99) rounded out the Card team score.
Nate Grossniclaus of Shelby-Rising City won the Watson Division with a score of 84. GICC’s Eshan Sood (76) was the Nicklaus Division medalist.
Parker Wallin placed 5th and Boone Central/Newman Grove finished 7th in the annual Mid-State Conference Championships Saturday at O’Neill.
Norfolk Catholic won the Mid-State title with a 348 team total. Second through fourth was a dogfight between Cedar Catholic (353), Pierce (353) and Guardian Angels CC (354). BC/NG’s team total was 373.
Wallin fashioned nine-hole rounds of 41 and 43 for an 84. Joel Meyer (48/43-91, 19th) also finished in the top 20. Completing the Card team score were Blake Olnes (47/51-98) and Nathan Gottier (47/53-100). Conner Johnson shot 72/52-124.
